Samovar 7.00: the take-off rate and the "Fix hearts take-off T" («Зафиксировать Т отбора тела») button have been moved from the "Additional" («Дополнительно») tab to the "Regulator" («Регулятор») card on the main screen. An impurity breakthrough detector has been added. After the last program line Samovar does not switch the heating off immediately, but keeps the column in the "self-reflux" mode for 30 minutes.

 

When switched on or rebooted, Samovar starts in the “Off” («Выключено») state.

 

In this state it shows the sensor readings but controls nothing. If you press the “Turn heating on” («Включить нагрев») button in the web interface, Samovar switches the power regulator on (if connected) in boost mode and waits for the column to warm up. If the vapor, water and boiler sensors are not assigned in the settings, the heating does not turn on and the message "Sensors not assigned" («Датчики не назначены») appears on the screen.
You can also start the boost with the Universal button.

Until the boiler temperature reaches 77°C, the boost heating element (if connected) works together with the main heating element.

Samovar switches on relay No. 3 (we assume a valve that opens the water supply is actually connected to it), sounds a beep and shows the message: "Open the water supply!" («Откройте подачу воды!»).
The notification appears in any case - even if there is no valve or it has already been opened manually. At start the cooling pump runs on its starting power for a few seconds, then the PWM regulator adjusts the speed to hold the set water temperature,

Samovar turns off the boost mode, commands the regulator to set the voltage (power) specified in the first line of the take-off program, and switches to the column stabilization mode. The notification "Boost finished. Stabilization/self-reflux." («Разгон завершён. Стабилизация/работа на себя.») is sent to the smartphone (if configured) and shown on the main screen.
Meanwhile, using the cooling pump, it maintains the cooling water temperature. When the boiler starts boiling, Samovar estimates and shows the ABV of the boiler liquid.

Samovar waits until the vapor temperature deviations are no more than 0.1 degree for six minutes. After that, stabilization is considered complete. The message "Stabilization complete, the column is running stably." («Стабилизация завершена, колонна работает стабильно.») is shown in the web interface. The six-minute counter takes only the vapor sensor into account; on any change of the reading greater than 0.1° the count starts over.

 

The decision to start the take-off is made by the operator. If the decision is positive, press the “Start take-off” («Начать отбор») button in the web interface,  in the mobile app, or use the  Universal button. If the column has not stabilized yet, the web interface asks you to confirm the start. Before starting, Samovar checks the program: the pump must be calibrated, the first line must set an absolute voltage (power), and every take-off line must have a volume or a transition temperature set; otherwise the take-off does not start, and the reason appears in a message.
 After the command, the take-off program starts and the peristaltic pump begins to work  at the speed set in the program. The rocker arm of the distribution unit moves to the position specified in the take-off program.

 

Until all the lines of the heads take-off program are completed, Samovar:

- takes off the volume specified in the program,

- switches the flow between the take-off containers as the program specifies

- may change the take-off rate according to the program

And at the same time it ignores changes of the column section and vapor temperatures. That is, it simply takes off according to the program. On heads the impurity detector only observes.

 

When the program lines related to the heads take-off are finished, Samovar moves on to the hearts take-off

When the first line of the hearts take-off program starts, Samovar remembers the vapor temperature and the column section temperature, and from then on relies on these fixed temperatures. If the hearts line sets its own voltage (power), the temperatures are fixed not immediately, but after the vapor temperature has settled at the new power.

 

You can correct these temperatures at any moment while a hearts take-off program line is running by pressing the “Fix hearts take-off T” («Зафиксировать Т отбора тела») button in the “Regulator” («Регулятор») card on the main screen. Samovar then overwrites the previously stored hearts take-off temperatures with the current sensor readings.

 

If the “Use pressure correction” («Использовать корректировку давления») option is enabled in the settings, Samovar reduces the readings of all temperature sensors to a pressure of 760 mmHg using the pressure sensor. So the fixed hearts take-off temperatures do not depend on changes in atmospheric pressure during the run: when the pressure drops, the actual boiling temperature falls, but the reduced value stays in place, and there is no false pause.

 

The hearts take-off program lines work until the volume specified in the take-off program has been collected.

 If during the hearts take-off the temperature of the vapor or column section sensors goes beyond the limits specified in the settings, Samovar pauses the take-off. This is the so-called "Start-Stop" mode. For more details, see the page Hearts take-off.

- If the impurity detector and the “Reduce take-off rate when temperature rises” («Снижать скорость отбора при росте температуры») parameter are enabled in the settings, then when the vapor temperature rises Samovar reduces the take-off rate by the step set in the settings, and on a critical rise it pauses the take-off.

- If within one line the take-off is paused by temperature three times in a row, Samovar reduces the base rate of this line by 10%.

 

After the hearts take-off program lines are finished, Samovar moves on to the tails take-off lines, if the program has them. When the last program line finishes, Samovar stops the take-off pump, moves the rocker arm to position 0 and leaves the heating on — the column runs on self-reflux for 30 minutes (the message "Program finished. Self-reflux (30 min until auto-off)." («Выполнение программы завершено. Работа на себя (30 мин до автоотключения).»)). During this time you can press “Next” («Далее») to finish the process at once, or add lines to the program. After 30 minutes Samovar switches the heating off, waits for the column to cool down  and shuts off the water.

 

If you press the “Next” button while any program line is running, Samovar, after confirmation, moves on to the next line. You can also press the “Pause” («Поставить на паузу») button while the program is running, or use the  Universal button again, and Samovar pauses the pump. To continue the take-off you need to press the “Continue” («Продолжить») button, and the program carries on. The “Reset process” («Сбросить процесс») button, after confirmation, stops the take-off and switches the heating off.

If the boiler temperature reaches the value set in the “Rectification, distillation and BK up to boiler temperature” («Ректификация, дистилляция и БК до температуры в кубе») field in the settings, Samovar finishes the program and switches the heating off with the message "Boiler maximum temperature limit. Program finished." («Лимит максимальной температуры куба. Программа завершена.»).
