LCD display and the universal button
Recommended setup: a four-line display, an encoder with a button, and a separate button with normally open contacts. The connection is described in the
assembly guide. Samovar also works without the display, encoder and button - all control is available in the web interface.
What a button press does depends on the Samovar operating mode. A short press and a hold of about two seconds are distinguished.
In rectification mode:
- If heating is off - pressing the button switches heating on; while the vapor temperature is below the
set value, the Boost stage runs
- If heating is on - the first press is equivalent to the "Start take-off" («Начать отбор») command
- After take-off starts, pressing the button pauses and resumes the take-off pump. If a "Pause" line of the program is running, the press moves to the next line.
- Holding the button while a program is running - move to the next program line, like the "Next" («Далее») button in the web interface.
- During take-off pump calibration, a short press finishes the calibration.
In distillation mode:
- If heating is off – heating switches on
- If heating is on – a short press moves to the next line of the distillation program, a hold ends the distillation and switches heating off
In wash column and NBK mode:
- If heating is off – heating switches on
- If heating is on – the process ends, heating switches off
In Beer mode:
- If Samovar is not running a program, a program starts
- If a program is running, pressing the button moves to the next program line.
In Cheesemaking mode - the same as in Beer mode; a hold ends the program.
In Sous-vide and Lua modes the button does nothing.
When power is switched on:
- If held for 2 sec. - you can connect to Samovar as to a standalone access point.
- If you hold the encoder button for 2 sec. when switching on the power - the saved WiFi settings will be deleted.
The display.
When power is switched on, the display shows the progress of connecting to WiFi and to the samovar-tool.ru server. Then, with heating off, the display shows three screens that replace one another. The screens are changed by turning the encoder.
The first one shows:
Steam T - vapor temperature
Pipe T - column section temperature
Water T - water temperature
The current time and the Samovar run time
The second
Tank T - boiler temperature
Atm - atmospheric pressure
Progress - completion of the current take-off program line, in percent
Get power - heating (ON - switch on, OFF - switch off). Switching off through this item stops the current process.
Setup - settings
IP - the Samovar address in your local network
If there is a (>) symbol before a parameter, the item performs an action or changes its value when the encoder is turned
If there is a (^) symbol before a parameter, it is a numeric value.
The /Setup and Prog> items open submenus, <BACK returns.
To change a parameter, press the encoder; an arrow (<) appears to the right of the item. Each press moves the arrow down. Turning the encoder changes the item's value or opens the submenu. Turning with the encoder button pressed changes the value in steps 10 times larger.
When the arrow is on the last line, pressing makes it disappear and you can turn the encoder to go to the next screen. If you press once more - the arrow appears on the first line.
After heating is switched on, a fourth screen is added - the current state.
Start - number of the program being run -> move to the next program (in Rectification mode)
Speed l/h - take-off rate -> increase/decrease by 0.01 l/h
Pause - pause/resume (the label changes to Continue)
Reset withdrawal - reset the process: the program stops, heating switches off.
The Setup item submenu, first screen
Steam T - correction of the vapor temperature sensor
Pipe T - correction of the column section temperature sensor
Water T - correction of the water temperature sensor
Tank T - correction of the boiler temperature sensor
The values can be changed. Press the encoder, an arrow appears. The line next to the arrow can be changed: turning increases or decreases the values by 0.01. The changes are saved to the settings when you leave the submenu through the <BACK item and then appear in the Samovar web interface, on the
"Temperature" («Температура») tab. If saving failed, Samovar shows the message "Menu settings not saved" («Настройки меню не сохранены»).
The Setup item submenu, second screen
Set Steam T - setpoint of the vapor temperature sensor
Set Pipe T - setpoint of the column section temperature sensor
Set Water T - setpoint of the water temperature sensor
Set Tank T - setpoint of the boiler temperature sensor
The Setup item submenu, third screen
Step/ml - the number of stepper motor steps to take off 1 milliliter
Calibrate -
peristaltic pump calibration - the pump starts, the stepper motor speed is adjusted with the encoder. When 100 ml is reached, pressing the encoder finishes the calibration, and Samovar calculates and saves the number of steps per 1 ml.
Prog - go to the take-off program submenu
The Setup item submenu, fourth screen
<BACK - return to the initial screen, saving the changed settings
The Prog item submenu
The first screen shows the first line of the take-off program. Editing is not available
Type - the line type, shown as a character code (72 - H, 66 - B, 84 - T)
Volume - volume
Speed - take-off rate in liters
Capacity - container number.
The second screen
Reset WiFi - reset the WiFi settings, Samovar will reboot
<BACK - return to the Setup submenu
Attention!
Holding the button or the encoder at startup does not reset the saved parameters: the button starts the access point, the encoder deletes only the WiFi settings.
