Pre-flooding

The "Pre-flooding" («Предзахлеб») program

Automatic holding of the column in the pre-flooding state. This mode works the same way as the hearts take-off mode, but with the additional function of holding the column in the pre-flooding state. Samovar raises and lowers the voltage on the regulator by itself. Manual voltage adjustment is possible as a supplement to the automatic one and takes priority.
The mode requires a reflux level sensor and the "Use the reflux level sensor during rectification" («Использовать датчик уровня флегмы при ректификации») option enabled in the settings.

How it works.

Warning. The time intervals are the same for all regulators, while the power adjustment amounts differ. For each regulator model a constant called the "adjustment step" is used.
The automatic voltage drop is 2 steps, and the increase is 1 step.

At the start of the "Pre-flooding" program line, Samovar sets the voltage specified in the line and waits 4 minutes. If the reflux level sensor has not triggered during this time, it raises the voltage by 1 step. Then it waits 4 minutes again and, if the sensor still has not triggered, raises the voltage again, and so on.

When the sensor triggers, Samovar remembers the current voltage and makes the first drop of 2 steps (the message "Lowering the voltage from …" («Напряжение снижаем с …»)).
It waits 40 seconds, ignoring sensor triggers, and then, if the signal is still present, drops the voltage again and waits another 40 seconds. The drops continue until the reflux sensor stops triggering.

48 seconds after the last sensor trigger, Samovar raises the voltage to the previously stored voltage of the first sensor trigger minus 2 adjustment steps of the regulator in use (the message "Raising the voltage to …" («Напряжение повышаем до …»)).
Then it waits 4 minutes. If the sensor again does not trigger during this time, it raises the voltage by 1 step again, and so on until the sensor triggers.

The cycle starts to repeat.
On every new cycle, the voltage at which the level sensor triggers for the first time is overwritten in Samovar's memory. The voltage returns to exactly this value, minus 2 regulator steps, after the sensor stops triggering. After a few iterations the column settles into a steady and almost constant pre-flooding mode.
When moving to the next line, if it is not "Pre-flooding", the counters and the stored voltage are reset. If a "Pre-flooding" line is followed by another such line, the cycle continues without a restart.

Note.
A reflux level sensor trigger is a period of 3 seconds during which the sensor LED stays continuously lit. If the LED blinks at intervals shorter than 3 seconds, it does not count as a trigger.

Note.
Samovar works with the actual voltage value at the moment of the event. This lets you change the voltage manually and quickly reach a stable result while tuning the mode.
For example: visually, the reflux level has already left the sight glass, but the sensor LED is still lit and Samovar keeps dropping the voltage. While we adjust the sensor, the power has fallen quite a lot. There is no point in waiting for Samovar to raise it automatically. Raise it manually on the regulator or from Samovar. Samovar will make its next step from the actual voltage.

To use this mode, select "Pre-flooding" in the drop-down menu, and the program line in the text field will look something like this:
C;2500;1.00;3;0.00;170
(C - hold the pre-flooding mode; 2500 - take-off volume in ml; 1.00 - take-off rate in l/h; 3 - take-off into container No. 3; 0,00 - transition temperature, 0 - not used; 170 - set the voltage on the heating elements)

Example with a Kvic regulator. The regulator step is 0.5 volt.
Suppose the take-off line in "Pre-flooding" mode is set to 170 volts
At the start of the take-off program on this line, Samovar applies 170 volts to the load through the regulator and waits 4 minutes. If the reflux level sensor has not triggered, it adds 0.5 volt and waits 4 minutes. If there is no trigger, it adds 0.5 volt again and waits 4 minutes again. And so on until the sensor triggers.
At the moment the sensor triggers (say, 174 volts), Samovar remembers the voltage and drops 1 volt. Then it waits 40 seconds, ignoring signals from the sensor. If the triggers continue, it drops another 1 volt, and so on at 40-second intervals, until the sensor stops giving a signal.
Say it drops to 168 volts. Then, 48 seconds after the last trigger, it raises the voltage to the recorded flooding voltage minus 1 volt (174-1=173) and again waits 4 minutes. If the sensor has not triggered, it adds 0.5 volt.

Samovar with an RMVK regulator. The regulator step is 1 volt
Suppose the take-off line in "Pre-flooding" mode is set to 170 volts
At the start of the take-off program on this line, Samovar applies 170 volts to the load through the regulator and waits 4 minutes. If the reflux level sensor has not triggered, it adds 1 volt and waits 4 minutes. If there is no trigger, it adds 1 volt again and waits 4 minutes again. And so on until the sensor triggers.
At the moment the sensor triggers (say, 174 volts), Samovar remembers the voltage and drops 2 volts. Then it waits 40 seconds, ignoring sensor triggers. If the triggers continue, it drops another 2 volts, and so on, until the sensor stops giving a signal.
Say it drops to 168 volts. Then, 48 seconds after the last trigger, it raises the voltage to the recorded flooding voltage minus 2 volts (174-2=172) and again waits 4 minutes. If the sensor has not triggered, it adds 1 volt.

Samovar with a SEM_AVR regulator.
Similar to working with the RMVK regulator, but this regulator sets power in watts rather than volts, and the steps are calculated as a percentage of the current power: the drop is 3%, the rise after the triggers end is up to the stored power minus 3%, and the scheduled increase every 4 minutes is 1%.
For example: the current power is 1800 W. When the sensor triggers, Samovar lowers it by 54 W (3%), and at a scheduled increase it adds 18 W (1%).

Note
Due to the way power is set, the actual value may differ slightly from the one set by Samovar (for example 1803 W instead of 1800). This is not critical at all.

If you need to change the reaction time of the reflux level sensor, it is set here:
In the file alarm.h:
//If we have already reacted - wait 40 seconds, because the process is inertial
alarm_h_min = millis() + 1000 * 40;
40 is the number of seconds after which the voltage is dropped again when the reflux level sensor triggers. When a reflux level sensor is installed, this works in any mode, because it belongs to the safety group that prevents column flooding: outside the "Pre-flooding" line, when the sensor triggers Samovar also sounds a beep and shows the message "Flooding sensor triggered!" («Сработал датчик захлёба!»).

in Samovar_pin.h:
#define WHLS_ALARM_TIME 3 //Seconds before the reflux level alarm triggers
Because of reflux fluctuations the sensor may blink; this parameter sets how many seconds of continuous level sensor triggering count as an actual trigger.

Applies only to pre-flooding operation:
in Samovar.h:
#define TIME_C 4 // Wait time in minutes for the pre-flooding mode program
– This is the time after which Samovar raises the voltage if the reflux level sensor has not triggered. The pause before restoring the voltage after the triggers end is one fifth of this time (48 seconds).
