Program Calculator

Samovar 7.00: the program calculator now includes the equipment parameters, the calculation of flooding, working power and rates, the "Apply recommendations" («Применить рекомендации») button and a check of the V/W units. Check the selected units before transferring the result to the program.

 

On the "Program" («Программа») tab there is a "Calculate program" («Рассчитать программу») key; press it to go to the page with the program calculator, which contains an example of calculating a program based on the volume of low wines and their ABV.

 

This calculator is intended for quickly composing a take-off program based on the percentage ratio of the fractions and immediately setting the program for the upcoming run.

Three template files are stored in the Samovar file system (together with the web interface):

They contain templates for calculating take-off programs for sugar, grain and fruit. These are what is loaded as the base calculations. The same files are in the tools folder of the sketch. In the templates, the power of each line is written both in volts and in watts (for the reference heating element of 3480 W / 230 V); the calculator chooses which column to use according to the regulator type.

 

In the "Take-off program calculation" («Расчет программы отбора») drop-down menu, select the type of raw material (Fruit, Grain, Sugar), and next to it the "Column diameter" («Диаметр колонны») (1.5, 2 or 3 inches).

 

This block shows the packing height and packing density set on the "Settings" («Настройки») tab in the "Equipment (column) parameters" («Параметры оборудования (колонны)») section ("Diameter" («Диаметр»), "Packing height" («Высота насадки»), "Packing density" («Плотность насадки»)), and the "Heating element power for calculation" («Мощность ТЭНа для расчета») field, which is calculated from the heating element resistance and the mains voltage set in the settings. From this data the calculator computes the flooding power, the working power, the maximum take-off (ml/h), the recommended rates for heads and hearts, and the number of theoretical plates.

The "Apply recommendations" («Применить рекомендации») button transfers the calculated rates and powers to the program lines. If the recommended power is greater than the power of your heating element, the recommendations are not applied and the reason is shown in a message. Below the button there is a hint saying in which units (volts or watts) the power is written in the loaded template.

 

For the calculation you need to enter your data: "Low wines volume" («Объем спирта-сырца») (l), "Pure alcohol content in low wines" («Содержание АС в с-с») (%), and set the expected ABV at the column outlet - "Alcohol yield" («Выход спирта») (%). You can also set the percentage of heads and tails for your low wines ("Heads volume" («Объем голов»), "Tails volume" («Объем хвостов»), depending on the type of raw material used).

The values "Boiler residue" («Кубовый остаток»), "Yield" («Выход») in each line, "Time" («Время») and "Total take-off time" («Итоговое время отбора») are calculated automatically. Below the table the totals by fraction are shown: how much pure alcohol, volume and time fall on the heads, hearts and tails.

The columns of the calculation table are: No. («№»), Container («Ёмкость»), Rate («Скорость») (l/h; for a "Pause" («Пауза») line - the pause time in seconds), Percent («Процент») (the share of the volume of a fraction of the given type), Type («Тип»), Volt. («Напр.») (or Pow. («Мощн.»)), Yield («Выход»), Time («Время»). Lines are added and removed with the plus and minus, as on the "Program" («Программа») tab.

 

When you hover over a field label, hints appear on how to fill it in correctly or under which conditions to use it. For example (the "Information about take-off program parameters" («Информация о параметрах программы отбора») hint):

These calculations can be used as is by loading them into Samovar for execution. To do this, give the "Set program" («Установить программу») command. Before sending, the calculator checks the program and the power units: if they do not match the regulator, the message "The program power units do not match the regulator. Press "Apply recommendations"." («Единицы мощности программы не совпадают с регулятором. Нажмите «Применить рекомендации».») will appear.

 

After the message "Program saved." («Программа сохранена.»), the program will appear on the "Program" («Программа») tab of the main page, and you can start running it right away.

 

You can adjust it as you see fit in the calculator and again give the "Set program" command. And then start the run.

 

The calculation can be saved to a local folder. With the "Save calculation" («Сохранить расчет») command, a file named programbackup.txt is saved to your browser's Downloads folder. The program lines are written to the file with the power in both volts and watts, so the heating element power must be set in order to save.
Load the saved calculation into the calculator (the "Load calculation" («Загрузить расчет») button) and then transfer it to the "Program" tab. The file is checked on loading: no more than 20 lines, correct format.

Calculator buttons

The "Clear program" («Очистить программу») button deletes the program from Samovar memory after confirmation. To leave the calculator without saving and setting the program, press "To main" («На главную»).

 

A calculation made in the calculator can either be transferred right away to the "Program" tab in Samovar, or saved as a calculation.

A previously made calculation can be loaded into Samovar for execution only through the calculator.

 

Keep in mind that the calculator is intended for calculating a take-off program right before the run. If you reload the page, the calculation is not kept. The saved file stores only the program lines: the volume of low wines, the strength and the percentages of heads and tails are not written to it, so when a calculation is loaded the data fields keep their "default" values, and the calculator immediately recalculates the program from them. To make your saved calculation relevant again, enter your own values in the data fields.

 

For a preliminary calculation with subsequent saving, it is recommended to use the file "Расчет АС-3.xlsx" ("AS-3 calculation") - an Excel file for generating a program. You enter the take-off parameters - the volume of low wines, the strength, the amount of heads, the amount of tails - and the output is a take-off program for Samovar. At any moment, copy the ready program from the file, paste it into the text field on the "Program" tab, give the "Set program" command and you can start the take-off. The file is downloaded with every release and, after unpacking the archive, is located in the root of the Samovar folder.
