NBK

Settings of the Continuous wash column (NBK) mode.

The Settings → NBK («Настройки → НБК») tab holds the parameters of the continuous wash column automation: how fast the column responds to changes, in what steps the automation changes the power and the wash feed, and by what thresholds it detects flooding and completion. The default values suit most columns; change them after the first runs, when you can see how your column behaves.

Settings → NBK («Настройки → НБК»)
1

Inertia («Инерция»)

The time in seconds it takes the column to reach a new stable state after a change of power or feed. 180 by default. All automation pauses are counted from it (waiting after a correction, recovery after flooding). A value of 1 or less - the NBK start is rejected. Increase it for thick grain washes and for columns with preheating.

2

Delta («Дельта»)

The permissible deviation of the spent wash (stillage) temperature from the reference Tn (°C) within which the power and the feed are not changed. 0.5 by default. A deviation of more than three deltas is treated as wash spillover - the feed is reduced by one step.

3

Power step («Шаг мощности»)

By how many watts the automation changes the power in one correction. 100 by default. In the Optimization («Оптимизация») line the power grows by this step per iteration; in the Work («Работа») line after flooding the power is reduced by a tenth of the step.

4

Feed step («Шаг подачи»)

By how many liters per hour the automation changes the wash feed in one correction. 0.5 by default. In the Optimization line - a full step, in the Work line - a tenth of the step, on spillover - a full step down. The feed manual adjustment buttons on the main page use the same step.

5

Vapor T («Т пара»)

The reference vapor temperature, °C. 81 by default; allowed values are from 80 to 97. The boost (line H) is considered finished at a vapor temperature of 75°C. The hint in the interface calls this value the upper limit, but in the automation it is used as the lower bound of the working vapor temperature.

6

Flooding pressure («Давление захлёба»)

The threshold on the boiler pressure sensor (mmHg) at which flooding is registered. 40 by default. The working pressure ceiling is half of this value (20 mm for 40 mm); during the run the automation itself lowers the ceiling after each flooding.

7

Completion T (stillage) («Т завершения (барда)»)

The reference temperature of the stripped stillage, °C. 98.5 by default. On the first Optimization iteration it is refined upward automatically from the sensor reading (up to 102°C).

8

Switch the stream with the servo on flooding («Переключать поток сервоприводом при захлёбе»)

On flooding the servo selects position 1 - the dirty stream. Position 0 - the clean stream - is restored only after the full recovery pause, on moving to the Work line and when the NBK finishes. Off by default.

Besides this tab, the NBK needs the mains voltage and the heating element resistance on the Other («Прочие») tab: Samovar uses them to calculate the maximum heating power. The flooding pressure threshold works only when a pressure sensor is connected to the boiler.

The NBK program (the lines Boost («Разгон»), Manual setup («Ручная настройка»), Optimization («Оптимизация»), Work («Работа»)) is set on the main page of the mode, see Continuous wash column (NBK).
